Roysmas was a simple idea of meeting at the top of Roy’s Peak in festive fancy dress, just a few days before Christmas, for coffee, cookies and prizes.
It was Heatwave’s first ever event and as the date got closer I wasn’t even sure if anyone would turn up let alone dress up. The nerves were kicking in a little. To my astonishment and relief I arrived at the base morning of to see a group of people dressed in capes and leotards.
At the summit, we were pumped to see lots of friendly and new faces. There were Christmas lights, bauble earrings, cowboy hats, Santa suits and more! Shout out to our youngest participant at 2 years old!
Over 50 cookies and 3L of coffee were consumed whilst we got to catch up with mates and meet new people, all surround by the wicked views on offer at the top of Roys Peak.
Judging by how well the cookies went down we’ll have to devise a plan to carry plenty more next year. Maybe we should start baking now.
